Artists of all abilities – even novices – will discover how to conceive and execute modern art. Part of the schedule will be spent in the open air, working on structured activities out in nature. These initial charcoal drawings and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the studio, with attendees completing a number of abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be shown in the local community. Participants has exclusive access of the hotel, which is built around an central patio and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in the Algarve
This Mediterranean foodie getaway, set on a villa by the river in the inland Portuguese region, is inspired by the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Guests will learn to produce meze spreads, attend a falafel-making workshop, perfect mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses such as spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the local market and a local vineyard to taste local vintages, plus leisure time for strolls by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the pool. The farmhouse, a former farmhouse, has five bedrooms, plus safari tents in the gardens.

Street Dance in High Wycombe
Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an energizing, welcoming three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style warm-up session, followed by three 90-minute workshops covering different urban dance forms, then an 60-minute jam to demonstrate new moves. Dancers are divided into levels according to skill level, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to street dance, all the way to advanced dancers or teachers. This event does not provide accommodation but there are several places to stay within walking distance, and it is under an hour by rail into central London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in St Ives
St Ives is the excellent setting for a maritime music retreat. Participants will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at writing their own. There will be vocal warmups, breath control techniques, performance tips and a closing performance. The holiday is based at a country house with views of the bay. All meals are provided, including a Cornish cream tea on the first day, breakfast options, lunches to go and evening meals. Traditional rum, unfortunately, is not provided. Creative Writing in Crete
Author and lecturer Greg Mosse leads the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores topics including plot, character development, locations and suspense, to submitting work to publishers. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will participate in events at the start and finish of the retreat. The retreat is based at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the base of the White mountains – ten private accommodations surround a garden and pool (companions are encouraged to share).
