American-Palestinian Adolescent Released Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Detention

An Palestinian-American adolescent after completing 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without being charged was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit while residing in Florida under suspicion of rock throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department applauded the teenager's freedom.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed prompt healthcare he requires following exposure to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

American authorities stated they would maintain to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to release him.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt about rock throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, receiving updates exclusively about his son's condition via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains mature inmates, including individuals found guilty regarding severe security violations and homicide.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, and international organizations, say some have suffered abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities was beaten to death by radical settlers during a confrontation during summer.

Initially, the Israeli military said officials were investigating information regarding a civilian was deceased.

Mohammed and Sayfollah were employed together at their family's ice cream business from Tampa.

No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand US authorities to protect our families," the uncle stated.
